G.C.M.R.
Hello to all members of the club and fellow racers, well
as promised your new committee meet last night and a working
calendar was agreed upon, I know it will not please some
people who race at other clubs as well but our first concern
is to provide suitable race days for our club and members.
As you will see from the calendar that we race ever 2 weeks
and in November we have the "Inter Club", now
that day is locked in but should the council reject our
request for special dispensation to run nitro cars that
week end we will have to look at another venue most probably
"Brendale" but that is a little way down the track,
so that month we are lucky to race 3 times.
Month Day Date
JUNE Sunday 1st
JUNE Sunday 15th
JUNE Sunday 29th
JULY Sunday 13th
JULY Sunday 27th
AUGUST Sunday 10th
AUGUST Sunday 24th
SEPTEMBER Sunday 14th
SEPTEMBER Sunday 28th
OCTOBER Sunday 12th
OCTOBER Sunday 26th
NOVEMBER Sunday 9th
NOVEMBER Sunday 23rd
NOVEMBER *Inter Club* Fri-Sat-Sun
28th-29th and 30th
DECEMBER Sunday 7th
Our next day of racing is on 1sr of June 2008 on our track
at Gilston, All members are reminded that to race you must
be financial and your fees are now due.
Over the next couple of weeks the "For Sale" section
on the web page will be up and running so if you have any
thing to go onto the web page please let the secretary know
so it can be placed on the site.
Should any member have anything that they feel would be
of interest to other members and would like to put on the
web page submit it to me and I will look at it and make
a decision. That's all for now
Race day as per calendar
Timings
Registration 8am to 8.30am
Drivers briefing 8.45am
Racing 9am sharp
Late registration will be taken from 8.30am till 8.45 and
a $5.00 fee imposed
The way the race day will unfold is 3 qualifying heats
of 5 mins and a final (length of final subject to change)
it is proposed that we will run 540, stock, and modified
classes on the day but that is subject to numbers. A special
will be run for juniors (under 15), once again numbers are
the determining factor, juniors will only be allowed to
run 540 class until such time as they can display they can
race in stock class by qualifying number of laps completed,
to be determined by race committee.
Regards
Dave Luff
Secretary

G.C.M.R.
Following
long and protracted negotiations with the Gold Coast City
Council our track at Gilston has re-opened, but sadly only
for the use of electric cars, due to the noise factor with
gas cars. However Darren Densley and Dave Luff are still
pursuing another venue for our club, with the approval of
council and subject to certain requirements both of council
(noise, etc.) and GCMR ( long lease), hopefully we will
prevail in the very near future, the stumbling block is
council, we are waiting for a map to show us available land.
A meeting
was held at GCMR track at Gilston on Sunday 4th May 2008,
prior to racing a Special General meeting was held and a
vote of "No-Confidence" was submitted, voted and
passed, so all positions were declared vacant, the following
positions were filled by:-
President
Darren Densley
Treasurer Chris Howarth
Secretary Dave Luff
At
this point in time one might be wondering about the off
road guys, the meeting then decided that the on-road and
the off-road should be separate identities; the Secretary
then agreed that he would meet with Simon from the off-road
club to discuss arising issues and also the funds that are
owed to the off-road club. The meeting was held on Fri 9th
May 2008, I found Simon to be very approachable and he agreed
that it would be better that the two factions separate,
he also agreed that they would seek their own incorporation
have their own name and also their own web site, the funds
issue were sorted out, the amount and who to pay it to resolved.
I would like to thank all those off-road racers who helped
out at our now defunked Gilston racing complex, and all
those who held office and wish the off-road club all the
best in the future.
The
members who were at the meeting last Sunday the 4th, also
set the fee's for the up coming year as $40.00 for Electric
racers, and as there is no Gas track on the coast $20.00,
the reason for the fee of $20.00 for gas is that they will
remain members of the GCMR therefore they are entitled to
go to other clubs and race, as visitors, or the alternative
is join their club.
It
is still hoped that later in the year we will be able to
hold the "Inter Club", on a date to be advised,
there is a bit of work to be done in that area yet and approvals
from council, stay tuned.
There
will be a new membership form on the web soon, and if you
wish and you come racing you will be able to pick up a membership
form at the track as well.
A new
schedule for Electric car racing will be out very soon,
once again stay tuned.
If
there is any issue you want to discuss please do not hesitate
to contact the Secretary, do not repeat not go on other
avenues and bag one another or the committee, we are here
to discuss all issues and I would hope we are all men enough
to do it this way and not by a made up name on the internet
where there is no redress.
On
behalf of the President and the committee of the GCMR, we
would like to thank all members of the GCMR for their understanding
and patience during this difficult time and to the best
of our ability we will Endeavour to provide a better year
for racing in the coming year and beyond.
David Luff
Secretary GCMR
